Motion-based mesh segmentation using augmented silhouettes

چکیده
Motion-based segmentation, the problem of detecting rigid parts of an articulated three-dimensional shape, is an open challenge that has several applications in mesh animation, compression, and interpolation. We present a novel approach that uses the visual perception of the shape and its motion to distinguish the rigid from the deformable parts of the object. Using twodimensional projections of the different shape poses with respect to a number of different view points, we derive a set of onedimensional curves, which form a superset of the mesh silhouettes. Analysing these augmented silhouettes, we identify the vertices of the mesh that correspond to the deformable parts, and a subsequent clustering approach, which is based on the diffusion distance, yields a motion-based segmentation of the shape.

This thesis presents a novel method for 3D shape recovery based on a combination of silhouette information and multi image stereo. The presented approach allows to reconstruct an object’s geometry from multiple photographs, taken from different viewpoints. The reconstructed geometry is represented as a triangle mesh which is well suited for interactive rendering with graphics hardware. After in...

متن کاملAn Augmented Reality Based User Interface Model for Full Body Interaction using Monocular 3D Pose Estimation
In this paper, we present a conceptual design of augmented reality full body interaction based on monocular 3D pose estimation. The proposed design is based on 3D pose estimation from the image of user’s motions captured by a monocular camera and the processing of 3D human poses for augmented reality applications. Based on the method, a 3D human full body model is constructed. The silhouettes e...

This study presents a video-based experiment for the study of markerless human motion. Silhouettes are extracted from a multi-camera video system to reconstruct a 3D mesh for each frame using a reconstruction method based on visual hull. For comparison with traditional motion analysis results, we set up an experiment integrating video recordings from 8 video cameras and a marker-based motion ca...
